Volunteering

Credit unions are financial co-operatives that are owned and controlled by their members.

The "value created" by the credit union remains with its members rather than leaking out to external shareholders or overseas interests.

Members experience this by way of dividends on their shares, lower interest rates on loans, a culture of fairness and a "social dividend".

The system relies on members who are willing to serve on the Board, Board Oversight Committee and occasionally on sub-committees.

Each credit union must have a Nomination Committee that maintains a panel of potential volunteers. If you may be interesting in serving, please do not hesitate to email volunteering@pscu.ie.

At present, the PSCU Nomination Committee would particularly welcome expressions of interest from members with

Marketing, IT or Legal backgrounds.
